With the first phase of Glendale’s aptly named Riverwalk project complete, designers, planners, and the public are now weighing options for a bike and pedestrian bridge that will span the LA River. The structure will span one of three potential locations in the seven-mile long Glendale Narrows.
In a December 11th community meeting [PDF], residents expressed a preference for “the garden” bridge concept. The concept for the 300-foot span envisions an S-shaped structure that is illuminated at night and provides two nodes for visitors to congregate. The final location and design of the bridge will be determined during an upcoming city council meeting.
