Los Angeles’ stock as a destination for end-of-year celebration is on the rise. For the recent revelry, LA ranked higher than Miami, New York City and San Francisco in terms of hotel occupancy. Downtown was especially hopping with a New Year’s Eve bash so popular that food trucks ran out of supplies and hundreds of newcomers were told that the party space was already at capacity. Much of the newfound popularity may be attributed to the fact that the city finally has a recognizable gathering spot – Grand Park – for such celebrations. Park officials worked for more than a year to create a new tradition for the City of Angels, including a 3D light show projected onto City Hall. It appears that they succeeded.
